National cold applied waterproofing specialist, Hyflex Liquid Systems, has finalised works at Shepherds Building, a contemporary London-based office development that has become home to many of the UK’s leading creative brands.
The iconic structure in Shepherds Bush, West London was built in the 1950’s and at the time of its construction it was the largest concrete frame building in the UK. Designed originally as a Royal Mail sorting office, it has now been transformed into a stylish and strikingly refurbished office scheme whose tenants include Endemol UK plc, Mulberry, Fox TV and National Geographic.
Hyflex has completed the 1673 m2 two-stage project, providing a cold applied liquid waterproofing solution across the entire roof area spanning the main roof, tower areas, walkways and landings.
Overlaying the existing roof materials (once investigated and secured), Hyflex used their own Exemplar liquid waterproofing system to provide a watertight sealant. The system was specified for it’s many benefits including speed and ease of application – it is also provides an inherently safe waterproofing solution being cold applied with very little addition of dead weight on the main flat sectors of the roof. More importantly, Hyflex Exemplar has the ability to successfully waterproof the many complex detail areas on the roof, including the extensive range of dormer roofs.
In addition, the hard wearing and durable Exemplar Balcony and Walkway System was applied both as a surfacing and a waterproofing solution to the central staircase, and related balconies and walkways of the building. The whole project was completed during a 4-month period for roofing contractor, BriggsAmasco, the scheme was considered a huge success.
